We as indigos all have very unique and beautiful talents.
I have healed my heart through music and eased the mourning process, and also cured myself of several colds while being wrapped up in the middle of a song. If I'm ever upset or depressed about anything, it only takes a minute on the piano and I feel 150% better. I literally forget who I am when I play the piano - and even that the term "I" exists. It is one of my greatest joys and the songs I write literally manifest themselves as I play. I transfer whatever emotion I'm experiencing directly into sound. It's a bit like automatic writing, but in the musical sense. Lots of times when I play on the piano people will stop outside of my house just to listen.
There are times when I am by myself or meditating that I actually hear beautiful music playing. I don't know if it's a set of angels that I work with or maybe just a natural vibration only some people pick up, but it's most definitely there.
My purpose as an indigo child revolves around music. I was lucky enough the other day to receive a message from Archangel Michael - that I was to study music therapy and heal many during my lifetime (the number "thousands" pops into my head.) Coincidentally there are only three colleges in my state that offer licensed music therapy programs. Two of them are more than 200 miles away. The third college is the exact same college I was planning to attend to get my teaching license. Hm....
My father has a doctrite in music theory, and I live in Los Angeles, the capital of the music industry. It seems like I chose a very good place to come to Earth to accomplish what I need to do.
What's your unique talent that has a spiritual meaning to you? What do you think your purpose entails? Since before I can remember I've wanted to heal people; if I could take away the pain of every person in the world I would be satisfied. What calls to you the way both music and healing calls to me?

well, I'm musical and believe that is a part of my goal, but I'd have to say that my strongest ability is psychology. I can piece together a lot of stuff from a little bit of reception, can tell a lot about who a person is even through the internet, or just by looking at someone/being around someone. Can tell immediately when someone is lying, has bad intentions, ego, etc. And I've always loved helping people in every way possible, and seemingly can come up with an answer to most questions run my way ..it's pretty clear what I need to do..but I still have to develop myself, I have a little block of hatred within me still and not only does it stunt my relationships with other people sometimes, but it prevents me from using a lot of my own abilities I think..but also I'm definately a leader thrown into the mix..natural "indigo" I guess, fix society for the better of everyone..
I was thinking just today..I've always been a very "powerful" indigo..I have never turned my face at the sight of injustice and have never been afraid to act towards injustice..

Hey newsociety,
my major in college is Psychology, so I'm studying all about people and their minds. I however, believe that the field as of right now, doesn't take the spiritual side of things seriously enough, nor do they seem to think that they could help the environmental movement as a whole. There is a rather new field of psychology emerging called Ecopsychology. I feel this will be a very important field in the near future because there are still too many environmentalists who don't understand human psychology and are turning away the very people the movement needs as a result of this misunderstanding.
Anyways, I seem to have the ability to find the positive in the supposedly negative. I also seem to be able to reconcile too supposedly contradictory statements. For example, it has been said many times that either opposites attract or birds of a feather flock together. Well, personality research suggests birds of a feather flock together is true and opposites do NOT attract. However, my first question was if birds of a feather flock together, then aren't we all inheratly(sp?) homosexuals? So, here is my resolution for this little delima: Both opposites attract AND birds of a feather flock together. Here's how: opposite sexs attract, while those opposite sexs have to have similar personalities. Opposites attract is talking about the biology of sexual reproduction while birds of a feather flock together is talking about the personality aspect of a romantic relantionship. So, now there is no contradiction.
Anyways, I think I'll stop rambling on with PhD answers.

Wow, this is so impressive!
Kiva, I hope to see your real name in the newspapers one day! I can't wait to see the reforms you're probably going to be leading when it comes to the environmental movement. Or even if it just has to do with reforming how psychology is thought of. It becomes so obvious to me when I talk to all of you that each one of us has a distinctly different purpose in slightly different - yet equally important - parts of society. I think that going into music therapy will open the doors for me to make the connection between musical vibrations and our soul/spirit, and maybe even boost me up high enough so that I might be able to nation-wide address the topics of love and peace. I have always been an acceptional writer also - I'd already written three novels by 14 - so I believe that I'll be writing about what I learn through music therapy and hopefully expanding the minds of doctors and other healers.
Who knows though? Maybe my music therapy will take a startling turn and I'll end up signed to a label and producing CDs, lol. All the better for the exposure. =)

crystalmaiden, I actually thought of going into music therapy at one point, but decided that therapy or couseling in general is not the field for me. Research is more for me, as I have way too many unanswered questions that need research to be answered. Kiva

kiva, the reason why I chose not to study psychology in college is because you said, I think it's too scientific, and personally I'm better off just observing people than objective study.
crystal, it wasn't quite clear to me, do you actually improvise music on the piano? That's a great talent to have. I can write good music, but could never really improvise well.
We will all be successful, though, that's for sure.

Yes, improvisation is easy for me. It just flows like it's actually coming from another source. =) It's fun, but I haven't found an actual use for it yet, haha.

Well, I'm into music too. One day I went up to the band director at my middle school and said "I'd like to join the band." He said "Well, I don't have a bassoon player, would you like to try?" I then took up the bassoon, and in no time, I was just as good as everyone else, even though they had many more years under their belts. There's no question that playing the piano for 5 years beforehand helped me, but I feel like I was made for the bassoon. My fingers are long, VERY long, good for this instrument. It's a great feeling to have everyone in the band room clap because your playing test went perfectly!

Lol, yay go band! I was the "drummer girl" in band, I was the only one who could actually keep the beat steady, haha. There is something so fulfilling about playing music with a group of people. =)

Yes, cm, or singing music with a group of people. I played the flute in middle and high school and know what you mean. I also got to go to Europe for two weeks because of my love of music. My HS did a European Concert Tour. Man it was one of the best moments of my time here on Earth. I learned a lot from that trip, which happened to be while NATO was bombing Kosvo. Well, we had a scare for about 5 minutes of the whole 2 weeks, and our local newspaper said we had "The Trip of Terror". Yes, stopped reading that newspaper after that.
Anyways, I think I'll stop rambling now

Lol, you'll start a band when you're ready to start a band, that doesn't mean you're a loser! I never started a band either... I played in the school band but that's a bit different... I was never good enough at set to really be a good "rock band" drummer anyway. My friends and I tried a couple times, but it always fell through - ah well, I suppose it just wasn't meant to be. =)

Hey Everyone, I'm anxious to get my story out to you, but can only do it in snippets. I started this site in the "INTRODUCE YOURSELF" section, under brand new lightworkers. The story gets more interesting and I promise to share really tangible, successful warrior motivations. To link up with you in this section, I want to share that I've worked as a professional Deejay in Vancouver, British Columbia for 10 years. I was the very first Canadian Virgin Megastore deejay. Being a female dj has been challenging. Female djs are still a novelty in the mainstream, so it gets me gigs. However, I have to work twice as hard to get respect. At around 24, I said to myself that I wouldn't dj in my thirties. At 33, I said to myself, "Damn, I got a lot better. Why would I stop?".

Maya,
No music actually influenced my want to play drums! Lol. I actually listen to everything, though my favorite band right now is a European band called Kamelot. They're not very well known, especially here in the states, but their music is very meaningful... kinda like medieval hard rock. I actually took up set because originally I played concert percussion, as one would in an orchestra or something, and my teacher persuaded me to play the drumset. I like percussion better though, you use more varied instruments and there's just something about playing with an ensemble of fifty+ people that fulfills me, lol. I'm in truth a pianist, I've played the piano since I was like 5 and I only played drums since I was 11.
Pursue drumming if that's what you love! =) I just like playing the piano better because I can write my music on it.

CM, Your descrisption of Kamelot, re-minded me of a Celtic rock band from Scotland that I listen to called Runrig. They are also not well known in the states, although one of their members is Canadian, Bruce Guthro. Runrig is really good, and they sing in Scots Gaelic sometimes, so I've been teaching myself a bit of Gaelic by listening to them Kiva

wow crystalmaiden, you were/are a drummer? me too. Although I never managed to have a band, 'cause I was and am still nervous when people are around..... what a shame. I know I'm talented, but being such a loser...... there are ways to get over that... it takes work, time, and devotion...but definately, you could get over that if you wanted to. I used to be deathly afraid of singing in front of people...it took about a year of hard work...and I can sing fine. I still have some fear...but it usually turns into moreso adrenaline.

DJGirl - WOAH that's so cool! Congratulations on being a female DJ, my dad runs a recording studio and has worked with a few DJs and has often complained to me about how few female ones there are. =) It's really good that you're standing up against the tide, so to speak, lol.
Kive - I gotta take a look at that band, sounds like I'd love it! I'm a freak about Ireland, I'm positive that I've had another life there before, so anything that has to do with Ireland of course I must have. Haha! Thanks for sharing.

You are most welcome CM. Yes, I'm a freak about Ireland as well, in fact I'm planning on spending a semester over there, and hopefully I will take a class in Irish Gaelic while I'm over there and maybe see Runrig in concert.

Hey Shaelyn! I never thought I'm gonna say that, but I just lose every kind of controll just thinking of being in front of more than one people. How did you get over your fears? please share with me your method, I'm eager to hear........... I...had to really push myself. My fear came from verbal abuse as a child...all my peers took delight in stringing me out and leaving me on the chopping block. So...that being said, first I had to make a conscious realization that people have changed, and people aren't going to ridicule me every second they get a chance. Going to HS and college helped me learn that...since my abuse came from inside the schools, when people stopped abusing me in the schools, I slowly started to open my eyes. It took a LOT more than that though...even knowing that I wasn't going to be made fun of, I still had that inner fear, that inner "what if..." ...So, I guess about a year and a half ago...I starting going to Voice class at college...and discovered how much I loved singing. Now Voice class, at least at my school...is you getting up in front of the class, and singing a song of your choice...and letting the teacher and the class correct you. But, you know the difference between the constructive criticism and the other crap. So I took two semesters of that. ...But I was still scared...inside and outside the classroom. ...so little by little, I started humming...everywhere. and...started singing in my car. ...and then, at the mall. and around school. in the pet shop, with my friend. WalMart. EVERYWHERE. I had to slowly build myself up...and getting compliments from total strangers, and comments that, "if you're not doing that professionally, you should be" REALLY helped. Moreso than that though, my fear is also talking to people...starting a conversation with them, and public speaking in front of the crowds. The Voice classes really helped with the latter...but for the conversations, I made a point to start working at Hot Topic. I noticed every time I went in there that their employees took the time to have a conversation with me...so I figured it would be a good start. Indeed. That was probably the best choice of my life....that's when I learned to REALLY start having a good time. The people there are so outgoing and random...you can't help but to pick up on it. ...and that's when I started developing the viewpoint...who cares? LOL I'll do what I like, it doesn't matter if the world thinks I'm cool or not. LOL I started dancing at least once per shift on the Hot Topic floor, when it was slow. It was GREAT! So anyways, the point of all that...yeah, I had to throw myself into situations that I was scared of to get over my fear. That was the only way to do it. I just realized that I loved music too much to be scared of it...and the love of the music helped me overall.

Thanks Shaelyn for sharing your story with me. You won't belive, but helped a lot.... especially that part, "first I had to make a conscious realization that people have changed and people aren't going to ridicule me every second they get a chance...." yeah, why would they? really, first I have to let go the solid negative "program" that everything gonna end on the possible worst way...... what am I thinking?..... no wonder my life is a complete mess..... thanx again, others' examples always find their way to my heart.....

Shaelyn,
When you said "first I had to make a conscious realization that people have changed and people aren't going to ridicule me every second they get a chance..." it really hit home. When I was younger and in middle school I had a very androgenous appearance... aka I looked like a boy and everyone made fun of me for it. I had next to no friends for three years and every day was hell with people picking on me, playing pranks and jokes, and not bothering to keep their voices down.
When I got into high school I became "pretty" but I never saw it because of how I was conditioned and hurt in middle school. Now that I'm in college, I still have that selfconsciousness that whenever a group of people are laughing behind my back (in the literal sense), for a second I think they're laughing at me, and whenever someone looks at me I always shrink inside and think "They perceive me as ugly." I know that none of this is true, but there are still small parts of me that need to let go. Your post really reassured me that this is all just a natural process of healing and finding my own confidence to be proud of my body and mind.
Thank you so much for sharing! =)

CM,
I also had/have an androgenous appearance and I'm sure others made fun of me for it behind my back. However, for whatever reason it didn't affect me that much.

I bet you were struggling more with your deafness than worrying about your looks. I know if I'd had a bit of a handycap during that time I would have been more concerned with that than my appearance any day. However, it may be more of a karmic thing too - maybe in a past life I was really good looking and in this one I had to be brought down a notch in order to continue advancing, so that ridicule during middle school hit me harder. You know, they say crystal children often have an androgenous appearance when they're young and that many advanced souls choose to have disabilities when they come into life. Hmmmm.... =)
Either way, it definitely made me more humble. I'm forever thankful I won't become one of those stuck up pretty people, hehe. ^_^

CM,
I'm not sure if you are talking to me, but I'm not deaf (although I do have a mild hearing loss). That is Ayra if I remember correctly. I do however, wear glasses and have significant enough vision loss that my fuctionally vision is not good enough to pass the vision test to drive.
I've heard that also about Crystals, as well as Indigo's.

Gah, sry about that, first I thought I was responding to Shaelyn and secondly I was thinking of Arya when I was responding, haha, wow that's confusing. What's even more scary is that I know the differences between you guys, I can't believe how often I come to this board! Hah.
I too wear glasses and my eyesight has just started to get really bad. I tried to get contacts but the perscription they gave me was all wrong and the contacts hurt my eyes... *sigh* ah well, I'm actually sure that we all choose to have these kind of things happen to us (bad eyesight, I mean.)
