what is a colibri? I'm not sure of the name of the animal you were in my mind, is it a bit like a squirrel or a gopher?

What would be the implications of having a mythical creature as a totem animal? Just out of curosity?

*looks up reference* Some of the mythical animals listed on the reference I use most often have some pretty unusual qualities linked with the people who have them as their totem, but no clear-cut difference between people with real and mythological animals. www.geocities.com/RainForest/4076/index1.html

I also have a spirit guide. (Well, I've got more than one but I'm only in touch with one of them. ) His real name cannot be pronounced in words so I just gave him an earthly name because I sometimes talk about him and it is difficult for me to get the message across properly without a name. I gave him the name Mairead and that's what he answers to as well. I shared some of my previous lives with him and he should have been my brother in this life. I often feel that he would have been a true Indigo if he had been with me on earth, and a true fighter spirit, but he always told me that he wouldn't have been able to get used to life on earth anymore. He doesn't appear to me in a corporeal form but that doesn't matter that much. I can feel his colors around me anyway and that's how I know that he's with me.

Helvetisaz, in your mind, think of a comfortable place that is surrounded by nature, and think of yourself in that place. Then just call your spirit guide with your mind, and one of them should come to that place. The thought of "being" in that place when you do this exercise is quite important.

Hi Caerai,
When I read your post, I thought of a peacock.
Peacock/Peahen's Wisdom Includes:
All aspects of beauty Immortality Ability to see into the past, present, and future Dignity Self-confidence Rising out of ashes
When a peacock opens it's feathers, it looks like there are a thousand eyes watching.

oh, my goodness.
I'm not allowed to spell the animal name (peacawk) by it's actual spelling, because it's automatically censored. Ha Ha
So, in other words, peathingy is actually supposed to be the word Peacawk, but I'm not allowed to spell it correctly.
What I think is most hilarious, is peathingy actually makes my statement suggestive. Which is supposed to be the opposite of what the automatic censorship is for.

Whoops, guess I read over this! =P Sry. Hmm you know, it is funny, people have described me as being a nice person, but I don't think anyone in real life has ever described me as docile or "cuddly". I care for people, but I am also the person everyone comes to for help, and I don't tend to back down at all when I'm challenged about something, especially my beliefs and things - unless it is out of respect for the other person. Maybe think of it as I am sweet and caring on the surface, but when fighting for what I believe in, I can be very "ferocious." I'm also not cuddly in that I really don't hang around a lot of people, I just sorta come and go among my friends, and even when I'm with them, I "turn inward" a lot. I usually spend my time alone outdoors. =) The crystal vibration is very double-sided, on one hand a person becomes extremely gentle and loving of humanity, and much more sensitive to negativity and pain, but on the other hand it takes amazing inner strength and confidence to experience such sensitivity and remain loving and open. Of the people I've met, I've found crystals to be some of the most solid and "silent warrior" type persona's out there, I think the websites that talk about them make them out to be too fluffy and childlike, probably because they only talk about crystal children, not crystal adults. The older crystals I've met are extremely wise and peaceful people - I wish there were more of them. ^_^

I recognize a lot within your post, CrystalMaiden. Deep down inside I can be very ferocious and have got a spirit of a fighter, but on the surface I'm just a nice sweet "cuddly" person. I don't let many people see what's truly inside of me because I'm just afraid that they won't understand. So in a way, I too am like a wolf. I usually go through life in silence but inside I am always playing with questions, ideas and other things... it takes a lot for me to be able to open up to people and show them every aspect of myself. Silent waters run deep, I suppose.

I'm not surprised by that at all Althrielle, I find a lot in common with what you have to say. =) We share a lot of the same thoughts I think.

On one hand I'm a nice, friendly, reversed person, yet I'm also strong-willed, and always questioning and thinking of other ways to do things. Jen

I'm a bit late in joining the conversation, but I know of one of my guides with whom I can communicate. His name is Daniel. He has a white beard & is my teaching guide. I can't hear him speak words as his voice is very high pitched & it sounds like a tuning fork, but I can feel his thoughts. He guides me quiet often & sometimes "yells" at me. One day I even lost the hearing in one of my ears for several hours! One other person has told him name is Ethan, but I still have the name Daniel in my head.
I have been told that I have 4 spirit guides & 3 spirit guardians. My 4th spirit guardian is a Bear & he is helping me on the journey that I am currently going through. He has to lead me along my path often it seems lately! LOL
My totem animals are the tiger & the otter. I have always had a way with animals, but it has been lately until recently.
Haven't been actively lately, but I hope to find more time after the Holidays!
Have a great day!
Jonna

Thanks for the insight. I never knew the Bear helped with Astral Travel (I can't do this yet would love to learn!). Yeah, rumor has it the death & rebirth may be in the relationship realm. I never would have thought this 2 years ago, but now I find myself wanting to be i a more positive environment.
My husband is very critical of everyone else in my "world"--for instance, I had a business contact request more information about a new training division that I have with a part time job I have. I was excited about the prospect, but he was like "Don't let them use you for your information." I think he does not like me having the job as it involves travel, but that is part of what I like about it!
Nor does it help that my twin flame owns the business for which I am employed part time. I think he resents our connection & ability to have fun...but I know this is part of my destiny & I feel like I need to do this to grow personally & spiritually. I can't turn my back on some things, you know?

Jonna!
My spirit guide's name is Daniel too! Lol, small world huh? He appears to me as blond and muddy brown/green eyed to me though, kinda like a British naval officer, I'm sure they're different souls. He's the only one I know about for sure, there's some others I have but I'm not certain who they are yet, but I've seen a redheaded lady in some meditation exercises I've done. =)
As for your job, it really sounds like it was meant to be, and I wish you the best of luck with that. It's amazing how everyone weaves a web in our lives to teach us what we need to learn in some of the most unexpected ways - what will be, will be. Keep us updated and let us know what happens! *hug*
And Happy Holidays to you too. =)

As for spirit guides. . . I find that different animals come to me at different times. The other day for example I was really struggling with something and just crying out for help and I stopped at the end of my street to get the mail (we have those multi box things) and a spider was sitting right next to my box and stayed there as I got my mail (had to reach really close to it to do so and my natural instinct was to be freaked out but that was imediately countered by the absolute certainty that it was there in response to my cries.) When I got into the house and looked up about spiders I understood the message exactly and was so comforted. I think this has happened to me my whole life but I knew nothing of guides until a few months ago. (I remember a giraffe sticking it's head in my train window at Bush Gardens when I was very very small. . . .and I had a toy giraffe in my nursury that I loved. .. I think perhaps it could be one of my life long guides but I am still uncertain. . . . still . . . feet firmly on the ground, head in the clouds is me to a T. : )

My spirit guide sometimes comes to me in the form of a cat. At first I didn't know what he meant by it but now that I've read the site you gave us, Pearldancer, it suddenly makes a lot more sense. "If the cat is your totem animal, you have a spirit helper who is resourceful, strong, and fearless." He certainly is that, and teaches me how to balance myself like a cat too. Thanks for this!!

The Cat
According to author Ted Andrews of Animal Speaks, cats wild or domestic have certain qualities in common. They are associated with myth and lore, magic and mystery. Nine lives, curiosity, independence, cleverness, unpredictability and healing. Those with this medicine should also study its color, size and breed for a deeper understanding.
Cats have more rods in the retinas of their eyes which enable them to see effectively in the dark. The dark is often associated with mankind's fears. Since the car is at home in the dark, it serves as a valuable ally into the world of the supernatural and the unknown and can help those with this totem move through their fears efficiently.
The energy field of a cat rotates is a counterclockwise direction, the opposite of a human energy field. Because of this, cats have the ability to absorb and neutralize energy that affects humans in a negative way. This is part of the healing medicine that the cat holds.
If something affects you in a negative way place a cat on your lap or find a cat to pet. Your energy field will immediately realign itself and inner balance will be restored.
Because of their x-ray vision, acute hearing and high intelligence they were used throughout history as guardians and protectors. In ancient Egypt cats guarded the temple gates and were used to ward off evil.
If cat appears in your life the blending of magic and mystery is at hand. A trustworthy teacher, the cat will guide you into the world of self discovery and transformation.
Actually Alth. . . sounds like your guide is coming to you in the most supportive way possible for your path!
