Well, for those of you that don't know....Steve Irwin was tragically killed when a stingray barb punctured his heart.
He was filming a scene for his daughter "Bindi's" TV show which was signed by discovery.
It's onmly the 3rd Stingray related death in Australian history...
Steve was one of the worlds foremost conservationists that never stopped campaigning for the rights of all creatures...
It's a horrible death....but he's moved on quickly...

news.com.au found out pretty quickly, too... he died at around 11am and the links to the stories were floating around the college network by between 2 and 3pm.... it's quite a shock to us Aussies, especially since he's such an icon overseas.
When you think about it, though, it was such a fitting way to die... absolutely horrible, but he was doing what he loved. I just feel for his wife and children.

Do0n't even get me started on that, the poor babies x.x
It's just ironic because stingrays are pretty harmless...and the last thing he's going to want his death to do is demonise stringrays.

I was just shocked when I woke up and heard the news this morning... I often watched his shows. I will miss him and I pray for his family.

Terri and the kids looked so sad...you couldn't see her face but you could just feel the tears.

I think the whole point of that show was to "demystify" stingrays.... so yes, it is rather ironic. I haven't seen it on the news... only read about it sarvo... don't think I'd want to, though.

Sources say the stringray wasn't provoked, it was probably scared or lashed it's tail out and he was hit by accident. At least it was quick and painless.
