Something very interesting happened last time I astrally travelled. I came to this room where that star shape of my avatar was painted on the floor at one end, and at the other end there was kind of a fountain, but instead of water there was a bright blue glowing liquid - not transparent like water though. For some reason I put my astral finger in the liquid and it started flowing up my arm. I got such a fright my projection stopped and I woke up in my body, but it took my right arm a few minutes to stop glowing blue. I later asked one of my spirit guides about what happened, he didn't tell me what happened but he explained the true meaning of my avatar. It was originally the logo of a public transport organisation on the other planet where I was incarnated before this one. That organisation ceased to exist a long time ago but many of their vehicles are still in operation and still bearing that logo, but it's also been adopted by people called wanderers, who don't really live in a particular place, they just go where they need to go. I will refrain from touching that liquid again, I have a feeling if I had been in contact with it for any longer it would have transported my physical body somewhere inconvenient.

I should start by saying memory images can mislead and intrude. Not to take away from your experience; I've read and experienced that OBEs silently turn to dreams if extended long enough to bring about fatigue.
Granted you find "gut level" significance in the message the source is irrelevant, at least in that one respect. Though barring prophecy, what you're told should be also -directly- at your level of understanding... for the most part.
So me being you, I would hasten to find some testing tokens like the sign of entering or projection (ra hoor khuit) and the sign of silence (hoor pa kraat), perhaps. The golden dawn and/or Thelemapedia.org are good to dig into for that purpose and those alike.
That aside your vision reminds me of this one Enochian vision of Benjamin Rowe's. It was about the "waters of death". Think of water in the sense of a solvent IE putrefaction/corrosion.
Water doesn't flow uphill and the direction (arrow) of time and life is no exception. This is why broken glasses don't fly back together. But instead they sure could still be broken down smaller! A concept enforced and explained by the aforementioned authors material. Shockingly similar to your experience now that i remember better. See for yourself maybe.
You're also reminding me of Frater Achad (C. S. Jones) and one experience i'd found in an early diary of his. But no so-called waters of death there. He projected to a room with a fountain and a star in a window-box in the ceiling above it, I think. But he went though the star. Plus it wasn't a drawing, or, wasn't at least seen as one.
It's worth noting that fountains renew or continue the perceived flow of time herein repped by water... but even yet it remains unchanged like carbon or magic number nine.. So the frame... or this metaphorical function of that fountain from this respect, to me, is manifestation, for lack of an "earthly" comparison to draw on.

Its also worth noting that death is required for new life. This in a way the waters of death are also the fluids of life, to me. It is the death of ego or self. And its the birth of the many. In chemistry compounds are sifted by centrifuge and are broken down to purify into separate layers. What floats up to the top is usually the good (god) stuff. Get it? Cool. 93, Frater N.D.S.
