In response to ssyn's question on the other thread, I'm posting a few instructions on how I astral project, and how I first got into that skill. The first time was when I was working on LOTR. Well actually I wasn't working I was taking a break while the cameramen put new film in their cameras, and I was leading my horse to water (yeah, I couldn't make him drink but I didn't have to he was already a bit thirsty). Something gave him a fright and he reared up and knocked me over with his knee, and his hoof landed on my stomach on his way back down. Somehow that knocked my astral body out of my physical one, and as I'd never heard of astral travel before I thought I was dead, which was very disappointing to me at the time. Anyway, that's obviously not my usual method. What I normally do is I lie down on my bed the opposite way from when I sleep (otherwise I would just go to sleep), and start relaxing as if I want to go to sleep. As I start relaxing I start thinking about where I want to go, and the more I relax the greater portion of my consciousness appears in that place. I used to start out in my room but I've since found it's easier to go somewhere I can't see my body.

Any tips on how to get over your fears though? I've heard terrible stories of evil entities taking over your body, or people having scarring experiences while astral traveling...

Jeremy, your astral self was shocked out of you.. hit by surprise. I have a question though, was your physical body unconcious or what?

yes, my physical body was unconscious, but with my normal method it remains conscious for about a minute after I project. I've never personally encountered anyone who's gotten into trouble while astral projecting. Your physical body will usually grab your consciousness back whenever anything happens to it (be that a dog knocking over your trashcan outside or another entity trying to invade you - A friend and I once tried to use astral projection to swap places and it didn't work) All the stories I've heard of people being invaded by entities have happened to people with little or no previous spiritual experience, or whose spiritual activities have deliberately tended towards the dark side.

So.. as long as we know what we're doing, we're safe, correct? (assuming that the intention is good-natured.. Anyway, I think I'm going to attempt to explore the galaxy now.. haha thanks for posting your technique, Jeremy.

Just shield yourself, Kitty. Program it not to let anyone get to your body except for your astral self.

Just picture a ball of energy coming out from your solar plexus and expanding to cover your entire body, then to program it, you say what you want it to do.

There's something you should know though; If the shield doesn't let you back in., cut through it with purple light.. which nothing can break through.
to do that, just visualize something like a sword, or a lightsaber, rather, that's blade is purple.

But I heard that when astral traveling, all you have to do is think of your body and you'll snap back in... Thanks for the tip though.

by the way a better name would be Astral Sensing / Remote Sensing as a lot of people don't see imagery but feel, hear, know ...
and it is more like you download the information from the universal mind and not "project/go there".

Pruuf,
"Seeing" isn't always visual.

Pruuf, I think she means that you can also "see" with your mind, and other senses, not just with your eyes.

When I'm astral traveling it's rather like looking with my eyes but it is a little different. I very rarely actually hear something on the astral plane, it's nearly all visual and tactile for me. The visual aspect is a little strange in a way that's hard to explain. I have trouble reading printed text astrally because the aspect of vision that detects colours and shades becomes blurred but the aspect which lets me know where objects are and what shape they are is actually finer than with my usual eyes. I think if I came across embossed text while I was astral traveling I would have no trouble reading it.

yes, seeing with your brain; and also seeing the events unfolding on planet earth. seeing ignorance. seeing your image like a lens and not behind what is real.
my astral travel quality isn't much better either, but i am working on it. i hope i can bilocate soon.

so trying doesn't work very well because you resist and that persists. let it be ok, accept, allow and use your awareness to observe, then a transformation will be more likely.
I would put astral travel aside, too.
