...ok, I've been having a recurring concept.
two of the most common dreams - being chased and flying. I'm flying to get away from someone chasing me. I can't really keep up with the flying easily - it's more like swimming through the air, and it takes a lot of energy...and ALWAYS, there's only a certain height I can get to.
...yeah, I have that one kinda often, and I had it again last night.
then last night...well, first I got up to turn of my space heater, then went back to bed and fell asleep. but...my space heater was NEVER ON last night...so I assume I must have drempt that? then...I woke up, sat up and looked at my clock. It was 7:00 AM...and completely pitch-black in my room wow...I thought, it's really early...why am I awake this early? Well, I don't have class til 10AM, I'll try to go back asleep. ...so I did...and drifted back to sleep. but...at 7AM, my room would not be PITCH-BLACK, because the sun would've risen by then, and I have *really thin* shades. ...so...I assume I drempt that too? ...but both cases, I would swear they were real, like I just woke up for a minute, wide-awake, went about my business whatever-I-was-doing, and then went back to sleep.
...wierd...

Wow, that IS weird o.O
How often does this happen?? Just the night before, or has it kept going since then?

the feeling of being awake, but not being awake? nope, that was the only time I can recall it happening.
I have had other experiences that have caused me to wake up in the middle of the night, and now I'm questioning whether I woke up during those experiences...but those were even wierder...I might post it for you when I have more time, ...I know I've posted it before, but I wouldn't know what to look up for it.

Hmmm... I've had a sensation of being half-awake and yet thinking that the dream was real (only happened once, couple of days ago) but I don't think it was anything like that... I actually jerked my leg when I thought I stepped down onto a rock that was lower than I except (in the dream), but that was a one-off and I still can't explain it cos half my mind was functioning quite normally.
Maybe 2006 is also "year of the strange"?

I found my old post, I'll just re-post it..
----- dream: So, I was hanging out in a mall with a friend...whom I have never before met. He was taller than me...that's the only detail about him I know for sure that I remember--I remember looking up to him. Other than that, things are kind of hazy...I remember him now as having blonde spikey hair, and a full-length dark trenchcoat...but that may not be accurate. Anyways...I also remember about the mall, it was full of green...green plants, green neon lights, just in general everything in the mall had a green tint to it. As we got on an escalator, the man asked me, "Do you know what (insert word here) means?" Now that word...I could not reproduce it if i tried. It seriously had the feel of some sort of ancient tongue...all I really remember about the word now besides that was a hiss in there somewhere. Anyways. So he asked me what that word meant. I told him honestly, "no." I hadn't even heard the word before, of course not! I was kind of afraid he was going to pull a thing where he'd make me say it...and it was going to be a bad word that neither of us should have said...but he was going to get away with it...I know that's a direct result of my childhood--that happened a lot when I was little. ANYWAY, I keep getting sidetracked. He said the word again...I remember him drawing out the hiss in the word...and as he did so, his third eye showed...and the pupil started rotating around...all I could focus on was that...I felt like he was trying to hypnotize me. With all my might...and more than just my voice in my dream, I screamed "NO!" ...and woke up...paralyzed. I could only open my eyelids half-way...and I could still see around my room...the light coming through the window...the chest lit up by that light...yeah, my room. That's all I could do though, I couldn't even totally open my eyes. My legs were kicking uncontrollably, my upper body wasn't moving at all...I felt like I could maybe move if I wanted to, but it was in my best interest to not...so I didn't try...I was too scared to. My heart was racing, and most notably, there was this odd pressure on the back of my neck...y'know, like someone giving you a massage, how wonderful that feels...like that. That kind of pressure. An eternity later, and all was back to normal...overall, I'd say it felt like I was trying to keep control of my body. ----- that wasn't the only instance, but it was the most vivid. I had a similar experience the following night, where I drempt a cop was looking for someone, and showed me a picture...of the same man mentioned above, and that woke me up and spun me off into the same experience. ...after these two experiences, remember waking up the same way once when I was very young, and after those, off the top of my head I can recall two more.
...so anyway...now I'm wondering if I was really awake during those experiences...I know I was awake after, and I was frightened to fall back asleep...until I kinda got used to them.
So far, it hasn't happened this year though.
