Is it possible to be Catholic and still believe in auras, indigo and crystal children, astral travel, etc.? I'm concerned about this because I am Catholic but I also know that auras have been scientifically proven...
I don't really know what I believe in anymore because I believe in the teachings of the Catholic faith (and I think it actually is a more flexible religion than many people have been led to believe) but...
No one taught me anything about auras in my Catechism class but every picture I see of Jesus, Mary, angels, saints, etc. shows them with an aura or at least a halo. I've even seen catholic pictures with full out layered auras...
I'm a little bit confused.

Anything is possible and it is up to you to decide. Why don't you ask God or Jesus Himself in a prayer?

Thanks, Kiva. I've tried praying and I always seem to get pointed back to this double religion path. It's like I'm supposed to be finding a harmony between the two... I don't want to give up either religion and so far I've been able to see the ways they connect... but if they start conflicting...
I'm afraid to trust that answers I've been receiving are really from God.

Auras, indigo children, crystal children, astral traveling, OBE experiences, etc., are not, in my opinion, part of any religion. They are spirituality, which, I think, is something totally separate from religion. So, yes, you can still be spiritual and religious. Don't worry!

Pruuf,
She can identify with whatever she wants to, and it is up to her to decide for herself. I understand that you feel the need to suggest books or sites to people, however I don't quite think you understand that it is up to them to figure it out for themselves. Just because you have an interest in these sites and/or books does not mean that others hear do or that others will benefit from them as you have. You can suggest all you want, but it is really up to them to do what they wish with your suggestions and you have to respect that. Honestly, I'm not so sure you understand that.
Elieria,
I understand where you are coming from. I am going through/have been going through a similar thing recently. Is it possible that your prayers are being answered, just not in the way you expected them to and that is why you are having trouble trusting these answers?

Thank you, guys! Kiva, I think you're right that I need to decide for myself what is true. Thank you for all your encouragement and support. Kitty, Thank you for pointing out the difference between religion and spirituality. That helps a lot. prUuf, Thank you for your recommendation but I like being Catholic, so I think I'll just follow the church's teachings about Jesus. But thank you.

I'm a little bit confused. actually, I'd go to say that Catholicism is one of the most flexible faiths I know of. ~chuckles~ it's possible that in teachings down the line, auras and such is a detail that's become lost. just because they haven't said it's true to you, doesn't mean it's NOT true. of course, it doesn't mean that it IS true either. that's for you to determine. ...over time, at least for me, it has gotten much easier to determine what messages are my inner Truth/which messages are from God, and what messages are me or influenced by others around me. just be aware and listen to the messages coming in, and you'll learn which ones to trust.
