Though i'd probably make you feel like crap for a week, go cold turkey. Use ALOT of self control and everytime you feel yourself craving for a smoke grab some gum...Aside from that I would of suggested using the gum or patches ; ; If you have 500 dollars to spare you could get hypnotherepy.

Cold turkey, and be able to sleep off 3 days. Say goodbye to the emotional crutch. It's there for every emotion that you have so it's kinda like saying good bye to your best friend. In 3 days, the hardest part will be over. Sleep, sleep, sleep. Hold placebo cigarettes to get over the motion of doing it over and over. Drink relaxing herbal teas. Go spend the same amount on organic herbal teas, that you would on cigarettes once a week. It will soothe your soul. Buy yourself brand new bed sheets, and don't sit in the same spots where you used to smoke. Be prepared for your bowel movements to change big time. It's the one thing no-one tells you. You're going to have to move around a lot! After the initial sleeping it off stage, take longer than 3 days if you have to, sleeping and cold turkey will power, nothing is going to stop me from controlling the movements of my own body except for the I in me that knows my moments here are paradise, and the breath is an agreement of the will to live. It's your right.
FIBRE, FIBRE, FIBRE
Whatever way you like it, bran or vegetable. A combination is best. Eat avacodos, and buy yourself some good oils that you must consume with everything. It will lubricate your insides and help with the cleanse. Write your feelings down here, and I will do my best to support you.
You're not alone when you get to the craving. Just move on from it. It's just a passing moment. You know what those are. It may bring up memories of pain, which will translate to giving in, but memories are inert, dead, they only have as much meaning as you give them.
Intoxicate your nose with a bombardment of new, exciting smells. Go into bakeries, flower shops, juice and salad bars, and the places where pleasant smells might be the strongest. You will trip out by your senses kicking into overdrive. You will get more amorous. Do not deny your other senses taking over. Follow the whim of your nose, but maintain balance to avoid replacing one craving for another.
Check yourself everytime. Walk, talk, inhale. Be without them. Walk, talk, inhale. Have soft things to touch and grip as you walk, talk, inhale. Have a placebo. I wish for us to all breathe together. One day...
When's the date?

I must say at this point Cold Turkey is workin for me...6 weeks today I have been clean! Doin great! It's more of a state of mind really. I kept telling myself over and over and over, that I don't want to die, I want my daughter to have her mother. I want to live. That's how I go to the point of doing so. I also listened to my body... the taste started to make me sick. As soon as that happened I knew it was time to quit, to continue would be stupid on my part.
Make sure you have some form of good support. Get gum, snack foods, find something you like doing, like riding a bike, or hiking. Get active, that will make you want to quit. When I started workin out last year I had quite for a small amount of time. It worked. But now...now it's different. Plus I watched one to many, "This is what happens to your insides when you smoke." type thing. *shivers* Not pretty stuff, that alone will make you want to stop.
I wish you the best of luck! And I hope you are successful as I have been so far!

WOW!!...thanks for all your support guys. Everyone around me has quit and since my dad died from these things I really felt it was time, beyond time to get these things out of my life. I realize they are just a crutch and I've done it before my first mistake was going to a gathering and out of (23) people (20) smoked, my second was giving in to the "one won't hurt you" comment!! The main thing is stress and you provided a lot of great ideas for relieving it, because I live in a very stressful enviornment but I feel I have a purpose and a mission here and I'm unwilling to leave at this present time. I may be a glutton for punishment but I feel that my suffering has a purpose here and so here I am. I think there's a saying about that but I can't remember it!? Thanks

My father tried unsuccessfully three times to give up smoking. After the third attempt, he prayed about it, then he went to smoke again and found he could no longer tolerate the smell of the tobacco even if he didn't light it. After that he only smoked one more cigarrete and that was as part of an acting job.

Well good luck! I know how I started... 6years ago actually, but I've only been smoking for about 5 close to 5 and half years. I quit for when I found out I was prego. I only picked it back up, cause my post pardum was so bad it was that or physically hurting myself. I chose the less of two evils so to speak. Anyways...I picked it up cause I stupidly met up with my ex at the time. Long story short, he was married and had a kid, but didn't tell me till well late into the relationship. Even his dad and buddy told me he was single. Grrr anyways, he started to ignore me, cause of his wife being around more, and only wanted to see me when it was good for him. At first I tried to contact him to tell him to leave me alone it was over, but than I got tired of it and moved on. So he accused ME of being disrespectful of him having a family already and so forth and I was so steamin mad I wanted to sock him one. Bad thing was he thinks he did no wrong and so he was prepared to hit me back. *rolls eyes* So I was so upset, that I was shaky and made the mistake of pickin up some cigs. Ultra Lights. At first I didn't smoke that many and stopped, but than my boyfriend at the time told me to smoke one cause his father ripped into me for no reason and I was upset, so was my bf at that time.
Needless to say it was a big mistake, I'm glad I am quiting, it's not easy, but if you set your mind to it and tell yourself you can. Than you can do it! Like I said, my motivation is that I want to see my daughter get married, I want to be alive to see my grandkids. Seems like a perfect enough reason to me! hehehe
The stars keep you till next we meet, and I wish you all the luck I can give!

try to experience what it really does with you, use all youre 5 sences. 1.See the smoke, and realise it is a pollutioned piece of air whitch you inhale to youre valuable lungs. 2.Taste the true taste of it, if you cant find the taste of smoking disguisting try to put the tobacco on youre tongue and taste that... 3.Smell the tobacco while its burning, how youre nose is not able to handle the smoke and it itches, smell the burning . 4.Feel how the smoke grasps thru youre throath, and feel how it sucks away youre energy, youre precious lifeforce. And feel how it doesnt realy solve youre problems or takes away youre stress, all it takes away is the need for a cig. 5.Hear and listen very well to the voice in youre head pushing you to smoke when you quitted or are trying too, cuz that voice doesnt want to relieve youre stress...That voice is the voice of a very rich family making fortunes wordwide of this product by adding it to youre daily needs and enslaving you the rest of youre life.
Also when you quit smoking, try to inhale air you can take so many energy out of air to relieve youre stress or pain. conscious breathing is one of the most powerfull things ive learned. Good luck for everyone trying to quit smoking much love sOL
