Yes, that's what I think now too. ;D When I'm really troubled by something a cat just appears, either in my head or in real life, and restores a little balance. It's probably his way of letting me know that I never stand on my own.
Two other important animals are the giraffe and the meerkat. Giraffes are friendly and loving, whereas the meerkat is just so beautiful and in a way very intelligent. I also love the snake but that might be because my Chinese starsign is a snake, too. ;D

Go and read about them. .. .I think the snake makes a lot of sense for you.
Personally, it has always been with me but I was always very afraid of it until recently. I am amazed at the things that fall into focus when I review the presence of this guide throughout my life.

A frog popped into my head around the end of February when I dozed off slightly on a bus and I've just read the info on frogs... seems pretty relevant Also the deer... I should check up on ducks (since things always come in threes with me); dunno about one being my spirit guide but I've fallen in love with the ones that live in the lake across the road and they never fail to bring a smile to my face...

it could be, as is often the case for me, that they are merely messengers sent to you!

Well I think there's definitely a bit of a connection. Although most things are connected if I look into stuff deeply enough.

@ Pearl: The snake has always made a lot of sense to me. I like the fact that it is a healer... because the person who interpreted my aura picture said that I had the ability to heal people if I wanted to. Maybe I should just do a meditation around totem animals and see what I get out of that. I'm just too lazy.

I'm not really sure if this is the right place for this, and I'm sorry if it isn't.
Recently, (just today, actually) I just found out that my spirit guide was a lynx, and had been with me for a long time, but I had simply thought it was part of my imagination. However, when it revealed it's form as a lynx to me through a sketch I had drawn myself, I'm not sure if I was just hallucinating or something, but I got the impression that my spirit guide had wings! Is this a normal occurrence or not? The wings were bird wings, and after reading through a book at the library on animal totems, the book suggested that the hawk was the best totem for me.
Also...when I did a meditation and centered it on spirit guide forms, this woman came up to me, and told me I wasn't ready yet...yet just a day later I ‘found’ my spirit guide (found being a relative term as she had really been with me for a long time)...I'm really confused. Do I have two spirit guides?
Are totems and spirit guides supposed to be one and the same? Was I seeing two guides at the same time? Or is there another possibility?
Another doubt I have is that- are spirit guides supposed to have a similar personality to yourself? Or are totems?
I myself feel that I am more like my totem than my spirit guide; infact I feel as though my spirit guide is much too special for someone like myself to have. I see myself to be an easily misguided person who can never make a certain decision on anything, someone who often makes mistakes and fears things easily. I'm not sure if I'm just being too harsh on myself, but I feel as though my spirit guide is my complete opposite. After reading up on what lynxs (as a type of cat) represent, I feel as though a lynx would be perfect to help and guide me. What I don't understand is how something as beautiful and wonderful as a lynx would possibly want anything to do with someone such as myself. ^^;
I haven't had the chance to meditate yet, but when I do get the chance I'll be sure to ask. I realize that most of my questions are personal and can’t be answered by anyone other than myself and my spirit guide/s, but because I feel so very confused, I’m asking you guys to suggest some possibilities.

mmm, well, totems aren't exactly spirit guides (they aren't technically entities, they're more a side of yourself that is partly isolated from your body), but the meditation to find out about them is pretty much the same as finding your spirit guides. My spirit guide today told me it's time for me to change totem - apparently I'm supposed to go from mouse to haast eagle - but I have no idea how this is to be done.

@ Channii: Spirit guides often come in forms that are familiar to our minds. Mine sometimes has wings, but more often he doesn't (too much of a bother, according to him )... and the way he appears to me depends on the state I'm in when he meets with me. In general, I can say that my spirit guide resembles me but is yet totally different from me. We're family in the truest sense of the word (my form is a kitten, his is a cat) but the way we stand in life is different. He's more of a soul who just dives in and is rebellious through and through... I'm more laid-back and subtle. In the beginning your guide may seem like this unattainable being, but once you get to know him/her more you will also recognise some other sides which make them seem almost human. More often than not, our spirit guides are opposites to ourselves who can teach us a lot of things. Totem guides are pretty different, overall. They're a part of yourself, whereas a spirit guide is a separate entity. I always feel that there's more totems than spirit guides... spirit guides are often with no more than three at a time, and totems can get up to nine or something. @ Jeremy: If you should switch totems... pay close attention to the abilities and the symbolism of the eagle-form and see how that incorporates into your own life. Changing totems is more like changing your mindset than anything else. Not sure if everything I said made sense, so feel free to ask if anything's unclear.

@ Channii: Sounds like you met your totem animal AND your spirit guide! Sry for the confusion. We have both, for instance my spirit guide is a man named Daniel, but my totem animal is the wolf. The totem animal works kinda like an add-on to ourselves, like it lends us its traits when we have times of need. The spirit guide, probably the woman you met, acts more like our conscience and is always trying to guide us and keep us on the "right path" in life.

Thank you for your advice Saille *hugs* Mmm, they actually specified the haast eagle, now that isn't on any totem websites. Golden Eagle's Wisdom Includes: * Illumination * Understands the cycles of the Sun * All aspects of clear vision * The Solar Bird * Spiritual power * Sees from the highest places * Courage * Strength Bald Eagle's Wisdom Includes: * Swiftness *Strength *Courage *Wisdom *Keen sight * Illumination of Spirit * Healing * Creation * Knowledge of magick * Ability to see hidden spiritual truths * Rising above the material to see the spiritual * Ability to see the overall pattern *Connection to spirit guides and teachers *Great power and balance *Dignity with grace *Ability to see the "big picture" *Connection with higher truths *Intuitive and creative spirit *Respect for the boundaries of the regions *Grace achieved through knowledge and hard work so... the specific eagle I'm supposed to become is something like those two but not quite, and more like a huge extinct forest bird with a 2.4m wingspan and 10cm claws! I'm supposed to be the flying one: and those other ones aren't quite as small as emus or ostriches either.

=) Thanks for your advice Jeremy, Saille and thecrystalmaiden. I had quite a lovely dream last night, and in it the woman appeared again, and seemed to shapeshift into a lynx! So now most of the confusion seems to be cleared... I went searching online today trying to find out more about the lynx- this is what I found:
The ancient Greeks attributed such powerful eyesight to the lynx that they believed the cat was even able to see through mountains. European folklore thought the lynx to be a strange combination of dog and panther. By Medieval times, claims of the creature's bizarre biological makeup, coupled with its purported remarkable eyesight, made it a perfect symbolic representation of the supernatural composition and all-seeing powers of Christ. Native Americans took note of the lynx's hypnotic eyes, with their magnetic powers of seduction, and translated that attribute into numerous folktales in which the cat convinces one of its "relatives" to come closer. In each instance, the hungry lynx, no longer in need of flattery or a hypnotic gaze, immediately devours the rabbit, the squirrel, the prairie dog-- his alleged "kinsmen."
With the Lynx as your ally, you need seldom fear the invasion of low-level entities. Your totem animal is very protective of its spiritual territory, and it will fiercely defend your psyche from attack by negative beings. Lynx also has a keen nose for deception and will warn you against the deceitful and the two-faced in your work environment and in your personal relationships.
I also discovered that Alexis (my guide) is an Iberian lynx. This really tore me up- the Iberian lynx is the closest to extinction a species of cat has ever been since the sabre-toothed tiger 10,000 years ago.

Her name is "Diane". She started appearing to me around the time I shifted to Crystal (when I was 16)... She is Pleiadian; she is "large", not fat, but has a large frame... very tall, like 7 feet tall. She has long hair, and is always dressed in white. She radiates. She has large dark eyes.
She first appeared to me in a dream where I was barefoot, in a white dress, on the ground in the middle of a dark forest grove; she was standing in front of me at an altar-podium, with a giant book in front of her that she was reading from to me. It was like a ceremony of some kind... Around her and in the forest, imp-like creatures were looking at me. One grabbed my leg and I felt it as I woke. It was one of the most vivid dreams I've ever had. I knew it had special significance.
She came again and again during this time of my shift... the dreams were more powerful than usual, more vivid, I had the feeling like they were carrying messages so I started to record them and reflect on them. I found that I could call upon her and she'd sometimes appear (that is how I found her name & her origin)... Other times she would let me figure things out on my own.
She has not appeared to me as intensely as she did when I had my shift, but she occassionally does bring a message.

Well, everyone's got that as a guide. I just find it infinitely handy to have my older brother with me besides that "universal"-thing because he's a lot more clearer and a loooot more fun. ;D @ Awakened: Those imp-like creatures sound like another part of the Fae People to me. Diane sounds like a very great guide to have. She suits you well.

I have three guides who are human. 2 males, 1 female.. and for some reason I think there is one more on his way..but not sure his stay will be as long as the three currents I have. The female is a pretty Native American woman..whom I seem to have past life memories with..but it's very fuzzy. One of the males is a medicine man.. He works with me mostly in dream time and in meditation. Those two have been with me all throughout this life so far. The third is a man that I have several memories of past lives with.. He's a pain in the neck nice European guy.. He works with me during the day moreso than dream time. There are animals who come an go, they tend to give a message then depart rather than sticking around.. There is a tiger I call Sunaru (Yes Uranus backwards.. I named her that when I was little)...She's one of the main ones who stays and works with me often..
