Spirit guides have got an amazing sense of subtlety. *coughs*
I once saw a woman who could draw spirit guides. At first I wanted to let her draw mine but then my spirit guide popped in and said "if you think I'm going to show myself to her, you're wrong". When I later on asked him about it he said that this woman didn't have the ability to show people what their spirit guide looked like and while the colours did look absolutely amazing there was no way that it was real. She would have been able to see him but she wouldn't have drawn him in a correct way. He prevented me from spending a lot of money then. ^-^
Another strange experience was during a dream of mine. I was sitting there with someone I keep dreaming about, and all of a sudden a cat pops up out of nowhere and gives me the biggest grin imaginable. ;D It was the sign to let me know that I could learn something out of this.
And just now, the commercial about the Royal Airforce came on TV. A dear friend (I've talked about him before) works with them and I was wondering how he was doing when all of a sudden this commercial popped up. I take this as the sign that he is doing well and that my guide wanted to reassure me.
What's your experience?

It's a good thing your guide picked out that woman for a fake, Alth! I went to get my aura photo taken once (which is BS because they only pick out the outter colors, which you absorb from people are you especially when you're crystal, so mine came out on a red vibration LOL, my boyfriend at the time was red) and Daniel (my guide) actually got in the picture with me so there is my aura and then behind me and slightly to the right is a completely different aura seeming to eminate from thin air! But there's a gold sheen connecting our heads, as though we are communicating. The lady at the photo place completely flipped out, lol! Guides have awesome senses of humor. God, I've had soo many experiences with my guide, it's impossible to describe them all! I talk to my guide A LOT in dreams, I always know it's him I talk to because the conversations always start with the sound of static in my ears, and usually as I start to wake up the static noise is still audible. In our first conversation we had like this, he actually introduced himself and everything, so I know how to recognize him. My latest experience today was while I was sitting down at my computer. I had been talking to a dear friend online about some stuff that was troubling me when I'd needed to use the bathroom, and as I sat back down I just got that nudge in my head of "Check your cell phone!" So I picked up the phone and sure enough, my friend had sent me a text message saying some sweet words to make me feel better, even though we were already talking online. ^_^ Sometimes when I get home early and I'm parking my car, I'll feel a similar nudge of "don't park now because your dad is about to leave" but I'll park in the driveway anyway and sure enough, I'll have to move my car again in five minutes. I get the same feeling sometimes when I'm going up to my front door and it's locked, I'll get that feeling from my guide telling me it's locked and then that's what happens, lol. Oh man, the other day I was up until 3am fixing an issue with my boyfriend on the phone and I had two homework assignments due the next day - which I had planned on doing earlier but hadn't realized this issue would pop up at the last minute and take so long to resolve. Anyway, finally I hung up and went to work on the homework and finished one assignment, but it was so late that I decided to go to bed and do the other one in the hour I have before class in the morning. When I decided this though, I got a message from my guide telling me that I wouldn't be able to do it in the morning and I should really do it now. But of course, I ignored it. Turns out that the next morning I slept through my alarm and was ten minutes late to class, so I turned in an incomplete homework packet! Gah! Guides are awesome and communicate with us in so many different ways it's unbelievable - I find the hardest part about communicating though is trusting in the subtle messages and hints they give me. It's so hard to trust in such vague feelings sometimes!

Intuition... is also a huge part of this supernatural communication. I think that guides are connected to our higher part of our soul, and intuition is merely the consciousness of our higher beings, imo. I think that's true for me... I've had no encounters with guides but I rely quite a bit on intuition and at times it is very strong.

Our guides speak to us all the time and a lot of times we mistake their messages for intuition, but I've found that when it's a message from my guide, the message is unmistakable and many times unrelated to the subject at hand. When it is my intuition, the perceptions can be much more vague and usually deal with what is happening immediately in front of me.

I think, often we are guided by our higher self. I have a steady back and forth via dreams and what I've always called "writing myself out" but there are also countless times that I get those internal whispers about the way of something . . .how to flow with a situation or a person, what is really going on, what to be aware of, what is coming. I get messages from God too but these are different. . ..I know myself well, talk to myself constantly *blushes and grins* since childhood and this feels like part of me.

Well if CM and Arya are right, then "hello Guide", I guess!
*grins back at pearldancer* I was the type that took imaginary friends a little more seriously than anyone else... mainly because I liked the thought that I had someone else looking out for me even if I couldn't really see them. Until recently I just thought it was because I had a wild and overactive imagination and liked pretending...

It is so great to hear all of your stories. I think guides come through most clearly when we use our intuition... it is their "tool" in a way, before you learn to hear them speak to you... I had many imaginary friends. I can't remember it clearly but my Mum tells me that I used to say that all of them were coming up the stairs... but to her, no one was there. Maybe these were spirits or just overactive bits of my imagination, but I tend to go with the first. I do recall seeing my spirit guide when I was little. He gave me a goodnight kiss and stroked my hair. That was the most tangible experience I've had.

I've recently been trying to get in touch with my spirit guide. My reiki healer says it's a female form and that she's beautiful. She says her name is something like Ezekial. With a longer A sound than just the normal book in the bible. I guess I gotta work on relaxing and not demanding so much. Asking is a must too. I'm still trying just to feel her presence. I get thoughts and feelings sometimes but relate them to myself making them up. I don't know if we're actually communicating at all.

I'm trying to get to know my spirit guide better, but because I'm so new to this, I'm not sure if the feelings and messages I'm getting are part of my own overactive imagination or something greater.
I think I'm fairly certain over my guide's form though- a series of closely related hints showed up just this afternoon, after I has spent the entire morning deeply wishing that my guide would show me its form. And guess what? When I came home, the mist from the cold weather outside warmed up to form a tangible arrow, and after following it and opening some boxes, I found the sketch I drew when I was a little girl- of a lynx. =) I'm just over the moon right now...the name was even right there on the top of the picture on a sheet of paper- I don't know where that came from though, I have no memory of it...
My problem is determining whether the thoughts I'm recieving are actually from my guide or not...is it stunningly clear when your spirit guide communicates with you?

Its not always 'stunningly clear' how they do it and it all depends on the relationship you have with your guide.
When I first started, I had a system worked out with mine... I would ask questions that have a yes/no answer... if the answer was yes, he would apply pressure to my heart, no and there would be no pressure.
We then moved on to him answering in my head to what I asked and if I wasn't sure if I was hearing right, he went back to the first method until it was no longer needed.
Now its much quicker for me to see what he is doing, like a memory or dream, even if its a word or name that I need to know, I either see the word or I hear the sound.
One of the weirdest ways that I have had them speak to me was during a dream in the form of an msn chat... I would 'type' something and they would type their answer. It was amusing for all of us.
A thing I found when i first started was in doing the 'standard' form of meditating (ie, clearing your mind and just letting them drift through) didn't work for me as I would push their thoughts out. I have to do what is called a moving meditation. Yoga is good for this but I usually just walk my dog. I release my thoughts to my guides and they play scenarios to me, show me things that have happened or just start talking to me. The walking sets up a steady rhythm that allows my mind to relax and just let them in.

I'm sorry to bring back an old thread, but I felt the need to comment. I hope nobody minds! I think it's awesome how you all can speak to your spirit guides! I haven't met mine yet, not personally, but I do get a lot of "feelings" that prove to be right. I asked in my head what my spirit guide's name is, and I got the name 'Lily', but I think it's probably just myself in my head...LOL. So any tips on how to find out more about your spirit guide? Thanks!

I met mine for the first time through meditation. Other than that, being open to their presence and letting go of any ideas of how they might communicate with you might help. Often your guides will not speak in words and throw you into experiences that teach you very valuable lessons.

Okay! Thanks. I'll try asking for my guide's name when I meditate. And I thought it was your guardian angels that "send" your experiences? I know my guardian angels' names, but not my spirit guide's name. Are guardian angels and spirit guides the same thing? I don't think so, but maybe...

It was my spirit guide, Kamots, that threw me into one of the most vaulable lessons I've learned so far. From my experience it makes more sense that your guides would throw you into experiences as they are "guides", while guardian angels are more "protectors", but I suppose they could be just different names for the same thing from different belief systems.

Oh and another thing, I didn't ask for my guides to show themselves, they just came to me.

Yes, I believe that they are already there, so they don't need to "come", and I'm not asking for them to show themselves. I'm just curious about them, i.e. what their name(s) are, etc.
