It really is kinda dead here. Maybe this will spark some conversion. I just got done reading The Prophet's Way by Thom Hartman and the fact that modern Western culture doesn't really have very many truly meaningful rites of passage just hit me. I mean sure there's graduation, but that really doesn't compare to something like a vision quest or a prayer fast. Also, Thom is not the only one to point this out; Frank MacEowen has also come to pretty much this same conculsion and tried to do something about it with his books as has Hartman. What do people think about this? Is this lack of truly meaningful rites of passage the root cause of many of today's problems?
