We needed a thread like this. I haven't been able to find a general thread on this subject and I'm just dying to know what everyone listens to and stuff. ;D I've seen After Forever perform live yesterday. It was a brilliant show again... I had lots of fun with all the headbanging, dancing, screaming, singing along, clapping and jumping that was going on around me and inside me. Celebrating your freedom with a band like this to make you happy is really fantastic. If anyone wants to listen to one of their songs, here's a link: rapidshare.de/files/19625086/04._Living_Shields.mp3.html^-^ And now, it's up to you!! What do you listen to?

U2
Bono just sings me through . ... .. I love to listen to U2 in my car and crank it up til it vibrates through everything . .. . .
even better. . .. just park somewhere and close my eyes and feel the experience of it all playing through me. . . the beauty and passion and compassion of his words and music and voice.

atm I'm obsessed with this random Canadian band called unexpecT - chaotic avante-garde-y prog metal with a violin ^-^
About time we got such a thread though!

How good are big music events! Spirits are so high there.... atm I like: house, hip hop (non commercial), breakbeat, lounge/new jazz/chillout umm *scrolls through winamp* any funky blissful soulful beats muirrin I know what prog (progressive) means and ofcourse metal. But what does chaotic avante-garde-y mean? lol Im a bit dusty with newer metal concepts...

Come use my broadband while I'm at college ^-^ Chaotic should be in the dictionary avante-garde-y was a typo... I actually meant avantgarde-y which is a Muirrinism - basically an adjective meaning somewhat avantgarde. In other words, the band is chaotic, weird and just kicks my butt.

hmmmm, im trying to imagine the sound. Not as dark as cradle of filth, not as industrial as fear factory, is it anything like slipknot? Im really behind with metal bands, but I still like the sound.

Well it reminds me of a slightly crazier Ram-Zet although they're not famous either. According to their myspace page: elements of black, death, core, progressive and melodic metal ; classical, operatic, medieval, electro, ambient, psychotic, noise and circus music with an occasional jazzy touch. They also have three vocalists (one female, two males) who all sing and grunt and of course a resident violinist. In other words, definitely my cup of tea ;D

Bump!
I wanted to share this!
Yellowcard - Empty Apartment
I just love one of these last verses!
It's okay to be angry and never let go It only gets harder the more that you know When you get lonely if no one's around You know that I'll catch you when you're falling down We came together but you left alone And I know how it feels to walk out on your own Maybe someday I will see you again And you'll look me in my eyes and call me your friend

Jet is okay. My Mom loves them, but I don't really see the appeal. Alice Cooper says they're the next breed of Shock-Rock. I hope not! Shock Rock should go back to mascara and thigh high boots on men. I'm into the tough-chick bands; Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Garbage, Lisa Marie Presley... I wub them. It makes me all warm and fuzzy just thinking about 'em. But, I love the guys too; Alice Cooper, Black Label Society (OZZFEST 2006! July second at the Sleep Train Ampitheatre, baby!), Moonspell, Icarus Witch (love, love, love, LOVE them!), MiG Ayesa, Tesla among many, many others. I'm going to go back to my little bubble of heavy metal now.

They're alright, Rad ^^ btw if you want REAL tough chick, try anything from the Arch Enemy albums Wages of Sin, Anthems of Rebellion, Dead Eyes See No Future (EP) or Doomsday Machine. And Opera IX had a female singer at one stage, too, from 1992 till 2001 I think. But seriously... some other bands you might like are After Forever, Cadaveria, Closterkeller, Delight, Lullacry and Otep, if you purely like the tough chick thing.

NOW!! lol they're one of my favourite bands, Sáille posted a link to one of their songs in the original post but I'm not sure if it still works. If I were still at college I could've uploaded one for you but alas I am back home with dial-up. Tonight I played Anathema's Parisienne Moonlight over and over again.... so simple (except for a few bars that get my fingers tangled up) but such a perfect way to get my current emotions out and heard. Also a nice link to my Someone.
