I had an interesting experience this afternoon and I was wondering if anyone can relate to this... I often spend a lot of time in my room, just reading, writing, thinking, or doing the exact opposite of thinking; that is, clearing my mind of all thoughts and just enjoying the silence... Well today, I was just in my room again clearing my mind of thoughts...and whenever I do, my ears start "humming" in the silence...I don't know why this is, but anyway, this time, my whole body relaxed, and my head started turning up toward the ceiling and I felt like I was...(it's hard to put it into words...) kind of floating...and my body was kind of "vibrating", in a sense...and then I got scared and I opened my eyes and the ringing in my ears stopped, and I felt normal again...I am kind of frightened of this sensation...it almost feels as if my soul were lifting from my body...I feel light as a feather during these experiences...it's kind of hard to explain... Can anyone relate to my experience, and if possible, can you explain its meaning to me? A similar thing also happened...I was lying on my bed, again, clearing my mind of all thoughts, picturing myself "above" viewing myself from below...I felt myself begin to lift again, and then I saw a bright white light, and that's when, again, I got scared and opened my eyes...(Yes, I get frightened easily... ) What do these experiences mean, if they mean anything? I'm sorry, I'm just so curious lately, I don't know why...I'm thirteen, and beginning to "explore myself", and I hope my curiosity doesn't bother anybody... Anyway, thanks for reading, and if you have any insight, suggestions, thoughts, comments, etc., I'd really appreciate it if you'd post. Thank you!! Also, I'm not sure if this thread is in the right topic, but I decided that this topic might pertain to my experience...

well, I've heard that the hum in your ears is anything from your hearing dying, or someone's trying to give you a message.
given the circumstances around your experience, I think it'd be something more like the second option.
sometimes I'll see bright flashes too...sometimes I won't realize it, and when I do it'll go away...I had one time that I though there was a car driving by...only it was brighter than it should be, for my eyes being closed...I lifted up my head, and not only was there no car, but I realized that my head was under the pillow. I've been told I was starting to see the grid. who can really say though. it hasn't happened in a long time, and I would think that if I was starting to see the grid, that similar experiences would continue. maybe it was more messages at the time. who knows. I'm not really doing a lot of soul-searching anymore, and at the time I was.
there's no need to be frightened, though. for me, these things were more exhilarating than frightening, if that makes sense. there was only one odd experience I had that was frightening (coming out of a dream paralyzed). these just kinda come and go, and make ya wonder.

Hmm...yeah, it could be...I have excellent hearing though, and I can't think of any reason why someone would give me a message...:/ What is "starting to see the grid"? Sorry, I'm not really good at the terminology...and when I saw the flash of light, my curtains were drawn, and it was daytime, so a car's lights wouldn't glow...but my eyes were closed... I don't know...I'm still wondering about yesterday when I was "clearing my mind" and I felt like I was lifting... Thank you for your insight, though!

yeah, I should have elaborated more on my last reply than I did. sorry about that!
the grid (also sometimes refered to as The mandala): that is what connects EVERYONE, up above the earth.
on the noise thing, yeah I've been getting that quite a bit too, and honestly I never could figure out what it could be, unless it was just a message of "pay attention." that's what people told me it could be. I do listen to rock music though...but I always thought it was odd that that noise came, not when I was blasting out my ears, but when it was dead-silent...mostly when I was trying to fall asleep. nope, I hadn't figured out for sure what it is...that's just what others have speculated.
seeing the grid, that too was what my friend speculated. still have no idea if that's what it was.
the floating sensation...that's common with meditation. I always thought of it as reaching to my higher self. I've been told that, when you're totally relaxed (basically your body falls asleep but your mind doesn't) and you start to feel like you're floating...after you start getting those vibrations, that's when you're close to an OBE (out of body experience) or astral projecting. for all the vibrations and floaty feelings I got though, to my knowledge I may have done it once, when I was trying...and I still can't distinguish if it really was that or a dream.
really though, I dont think anyone has all the answers to what these experiences are. I just know that they're relatively common.

Thank you! And yes, I was not searching for an exact answer, just hoping someone could shed some light on my experience, and that's what you did!
Yes, I usually get the humming noise in my ears in dead silence as well, which struck me as odd...I have excellent hearing, but I don't listen to loud music or anything, though I am sensitive to a lot of sound...
And wow, I checked the Astral Travel topic, and read a few threads about it...sounds like I may be getting close to one, as you suggested, when my body starts to vibrate...is it safe to keep doing this? Do you know if it's dangerous to have an OBE? =/ Thank you so much for your insight on all of my questions! I hope you aren't bothered by my questions, I tend to ask a lot of them!

bothered - not at all! lol, you're bringing life into this old forum, that makes me happy ^_^
I've heard a handful of rumors of dangers...actually, on another forum I used to visit several years ago, there was this huge debate over whether or not it was dangerous to have an OBE during a thunderstorm.
there's also supposedly precautions you can take...such as enveloping yourself in white light beforehand. personally, I never felt endangered, except in that one dream I felt paralyzed...and actually, that experience started repeating to the point that I got used to it...and I knew nothing would happen to me. the first time it happened though, I would swear something was trying to control my body. the last several times, I felt it coming, and was just like, ok comeon get it over with...and I'd relax into it and just let it happen. nothing horrible ever became of that, to my knowledge.
personally, I think the key here is trusting yourself. if it doesn't feel right, ~as in more than just anxiety zOMG what's going on sorta thing~, then do what you can to bring yourself out. just be aware.
I totally forgot about this - I've also had some experiences with shadow people in the past too...and most of the time, I felt terrified of them, from the start...but I also recognized that they couldn't hurt me, and there was no real need to be afraid. the fear was more of a ...reaction to their presence than a warning or anything like that.
anyway, you live and learn. read up on it all, and do what seems right for you. in my experience, there's no need to worry...fear is just crippling. however, that's not to say that nothing will ever go wrong in these experiences. figure it out for yourself, and do what's best for you.

Wow, thanks for all of the information! So, I think I'll experiment a little more, and I'll be cautious, but I will try not to be actually scared. If I am, then I'll assume that the experiences are hurting me more than helping me, so I'll stop. Thank you for helping me figure that out. Lol. But if you don't mind me asking, what do you mean enveloping yourself in white light? Hmm, that's interesting about the shadow people. As far as I know, so far, I haven't come across any, but interesting! Well, thank you for explaining everything so deeply...I think I understand now.

Thank you. If I try this, I will be sure to imagine this beforehand. Do you know if astral travel is of any danger to your physical or emotional state? I don't want to take any risks...and I heard that it can be dangerous...

yup, Arya you got it. ...I've heard other reasons why as well...it's just a general protection thing, different faiths have different theories. being around a lot of Christians, I hear the "God's light will protect you" theory a lot. but then I've also heard that pink is God's color, and sometimes from the same people...and I never quite got how the two worked together. ...I've also heard that it's a purification thing, to clear you of any negativity that might draw more negativity to you.
I wouldn't know enough about astral travel to know for sure. now, I have a friend that tried it, she wanted to go somewhere quiet...and she did. but when she was coming out of it, she said she heard some things that were disturbing, and she didnt want to go back. so, it can definately affect your emotional state, depending upon what you see...as does anything in life.
maybe someone else can shed some more light on the astral travel topic. pun not intended.

Hmmm, well even if it's just a myth, better safe than sorry, I suppose! Hmm...that's not good that your friend heard disturbing things... I suppose it depends on the place that you travel, as well? Thank you for your insight! If anyone else has something to add, please post! Thank you!

Your description does sound a lot like some other people's description of the beginning of an astral projection. For me it's quite a different experience because I do it by reliving a moment when my body was knocked down by my horse and my spirit became detached and remained standing. Your experience with astral travel will depend entirely on where you go.

Hmm...okay. I think it would be interesting to have an astral projection, I am just afraid. Like, I am in between, the fear of the unknown...sorry if you don't understand me, it's hard to explain...

Yes, fear of the unknown is one thing I continue to struggle with. I like everything to be planned, so I know what will happen, and prefer not to take risks if possible. I think I'll do some more research and think it over. Thanks for the info and good luck overcoming your fears.

according to ramtha the great law is to "make known the unkown." makes sense to me, always becoming someone new, change, new experience, growth. "Do not be too timid or squeamish about your actions, all life is an experiment." -Ralph Waldo Emerson "knowingness is the decision making arm for spontaneity" <- like that too, becoming mavericks Prophageus: "IEWA (Imagination Emotion Will Action) is simply a model for consciously realizing the process of creation manifesting through ourselves into our perceived reality. Model: standard, system Creation: constantly becoming By being a fractal part of Creation we can consciously realize our role in helping Create(reality). -- (I) We imagine(create - specifically a new vibrational arrangement).. (E) Then that energy turns into motion/force(emotion(s) of passion, love, hate, etc.).. (W) Which propels us to make a choice(will).. (A) Then we take mental and/or physical action and our creation manifests.." I struggle the most with action. sth very simple. it's laziness, doubts, apathy... www.imagesofone.com/AbundanceCourse.pdfthis course showed me a lot of unsconscious blocks. it's a releasing course like the sedona method. basically it's 1. wanting security, survival 2. wanting approval 3. wanting control which stops us from going forward, jumping out of the box.
