Okay everyone, attempting to make myself look good in a bikini (for the bf, he pesters me, hehe), does anyone have any dieting tips? I need to lose about 15 pounds. =) Not a lot, but they say the last few are the hardest.

Well I am checking my nutrition closely me too...
If you want it to be efficient, slow and gradual changes in your nutrition are the best. Change one or two things per week or month, and when you feel it is consolidated, take an other change... if you want to reduce the quantity of sugar/salt for example, it is preferable to do it slowly, VERY slowly. It will be harder for your body to notice the difference and it reduces the risk and frequency of sugar cravings.
The usual nutrition tips as always : varied meals, fruits and vegetables, water, prefer whole cereal bread than white bread (same with pasta), the less sugar is the best or prefer complex sugar in fruits than white sugar (if you cut it completely and rapidly, it will be more difficult to control sugar cravings), eat often but in small portions like the size of your hand each time (5-6 times a day)
and... of course exercise ! I'd recommend 30 min a day of mild exercise like energetic walk, playing with dog, bicycle, skating, swimming... or any fun activity! If you dont have time to do sports, try to prefer stairs than elevator, walk until grocery than drive the car...

I would also recommend maybe weight training if you can. I've read that muscle burns calories all the time, but cardio workouts only burn calories when you are doing them.

Wow, Arya, thanks so much for the great advice! I remember my aunt telling me the same thing about eating small meals throughout the day, I'll definitely start trying that. ^_^
Kiva - my boyfriend has some barbells and I go to Kung Fu, so I'll try some weights. Hopefully it won't bulk me up. =)

CM, as long as you do light weight with high repetition you won't bulk up. It will tone your muscles and keep burning calories hours after you're done lifting! Doing cardio with light weights always sends endorphins pumping through my body.

I have found that the only way I lose weight is to do cardio workouts, i get pretty bored but if you already eat pretty well it seems the only way to go. I imagine you probably already do this but don't eat any thing with nutrasweet in it either. The pill will also make a person hold on to a random ten pounds that can be hard to lose. Good luck,

Thank you, Shepardess, this was very valuable information, I think I know why I've been having so much trouble now. ^_^ Thank you so much!

...ever played Dance Dance Revolution? <~~~used to be addicted...and it helps a lil.
...anyway...that aside, after I got out of HS, I became addicted to video games (besides DDR...the kind where you sit on your ass in front of a TV all day)...to the point that I didn't even notice that I was hungry...or in some cases, noticed but was too preoccupied trying to beat a boss or get to a save point or just reaching the next town...that I didn't bother. Thus, I skipped meals. I lost 25lbs that way...LOL everyone was worried I was anorexic...I only weighed 120 at the time, so 25 was a lot to lose in a short period of time.

I'm kind of jealous of all you people who actually wish to weigh less. I am clinically underweight and nothing I do has ever changed that. Reducing my level of exercise is not an option: I feel horrible if I get unfit. I will not begin to describe some of the diets I've tried, some of them would have made a normal person expand like a balloon.

Jeremy,
It sounds like you have a really fast metabolism. Have you tried ways to slow it down (if there are any)? ...Or perhaps you should quit trying to gain weight and you will just gain it or maybe just accept being underweight?

Every time I gain a little bit of weight over a winter, I train hard and eat right, but sometimes the thing what helps is visualizing that you are getting thinner. When you make yourself think "I am getting thinner and thinner every day", you program your brain - and thus your body - to lose weight. It worked for me at least

Star Child - that sounds brilliant! Exactly what I needed to hear today, hehe, thank you so much! I'll definitely start thinking that way, that rings very true with me.
