WATER OR COKE? This is really an eye opener... Water or Coke? We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before. WATER:1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. 2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. 3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%. 4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study. 5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. 6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. 7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. 8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. And now for the properties of COKE: 1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. 2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days. 3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola in! to the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then en flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China. 4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola. 5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. 6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes. 7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy. 8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. 9. It will also clean road haze from your windshield. For Your Info:1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis. 2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials. 3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years! Now the question is, would you like a coke or a glass of water?

Wow, Laurel, thanks for this! I've been trying to slowly detach myself from drinking soda and this DEFINETLY convinced me not to drink it anymore.

Yeah that stuff is nasty. Never drank it much, but haven't drank any at all in probably like 6 months.

Yep, I've been going off of soda too and especially coke, I only started drinking it when I was about 11 and I cut it out of my diet for a year a little while ago, but I've gotten back into the habbit. This has definitely given me new determination to stop drinking it!

Yeah tell me about it! I always knew that products with cola in them are highly corrosive but I didn't know most that stuff about water. *pours himself a glass and takes a drink* ahhh now that's better

A couple of days ago I used a bottle of coke on my battery. It removed the corrosion in seconds! It really is nasty stuff. I rarely drink soda and never coke.
I heard that one should drink one ounce of water for every pound of body weight a day. A 150 lb person should drink 75 oz. in one day on average and more on a hot day or when you are physically active. I did a "water diet" with a friend using this formula and besides the excessive urination(which was cleaning out my system) I noticed an overall increase in my energy and how I felt. Water is a miracle. It's what allows this world to live as it does.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
My ex showed me that trick once, too...
After that, I wouldn't touch a Coke.
I still drank Dr. Pepper...I finally got myself to stop drinking those after I started singing...I knew it would tear up my voice.
Now nearly all I drink is water. ...I tried a Dr. Pepper recently, and it was wierd...it tasted like utter crap. Not at all how I remember it.
Now the question is: Bottled water or tap?

I do drink more water than most Americans. In fact, most days water is the only thing I drink. Also, I stopped drinking soda/pop/whatever you call it about a year or two ago. My digestive system just couldn't handle it anymore and I started to feel like crap after drinking it. Also, if I drink caffinated drinks now, it seems to have the opposite effect on me. That is it will make me tired or go into a meditative state because I'd stopped drinking it for so long. When I stopped drinking caffine, I did start drinking Ginko Baloba tea for awhile, but after a period of time, just stopped drinking that as well.

Hi Shaelyn! I don't really like neither bottled water nor tap water. I find that bottled water sometimes smell like dead fish and tap water contains too much metal or chlorine. I prefer to filter tap water with special filters that remove these tastes. I like Brita's filters, I find them efficient. I then put the bottle with the filter in frigo. If I don't want water to taste "frigo" I can put an open pack of baking soda in the frigo and it absorbs all bad odors! ;D hmmm interesting. I never really like filtered tap water that had been put in the fridge; I always thought it had smelled/tasted like melons, and then wonder if the container was washed well. I don't think those people used baking soda though...I've never heard of that trick. I don't like bottled either; I always thought that it was "lacking" and tasted funny...partly due to being raised on tap, I'm sure. Tap most of the time works for me...until it starts tasting like dirt. So I've heard that the filtered/bottled water loses a lot of minerals that're good for you...but I wouldn't doubt that they also lose a lot of metals and such that are bad for you too.

I like spring water the best whether bottled or not. It just tastes better than tap or fitlered tap water to me.

I grew up on well water, and that's what I would drink if given the choice. Tap water tastes metallic to me and bottled tastes kind of soapy. I often drink tap water with a dash of lemon. I do like chilled filtered water, but I always chill it in a clean sealed container.

... I think its right about time I cut back on coke o.o
On the upside of that there's plenty of water downstairs (Well.. plenty for myself for a few days at least... apparently thats going to be one of the biggest problems ever in so many years. Getting usable drinking water)
