Lately I have been having intense trouble sleeping. No matter what time I go to bed, I end up lying awake for sometimes up to three hours before I'm able to fall asleep. I'm just lying there thinking normally, but I cannot fall asleep, even if I am SO tired. It's very troubling and I always end up feeling ridiculously drained when I wake up in the morning.
I was wondering if anyone else has/had a problem like this, and if someone might have any advice for falling asleep easier.
Thank you so much!

I get this from time to time. If it happens I make the idea of meditating before bed more of a priority.

I do the same thing as Jeremy ^^ Whenever I get into bed I lay out flat and do a relaxation one (Same one as given on the MSN group )

Thanks for the advice guys!
It seems silly *LOL* but I've never actually meditated right before bed. It will probably help a lot.

Yeah I've had the exact same problem and have had no way of helping it. I will wake up several times, and have to try to fall back asleep. It is getting really annoying and sometimes it also makes me worry a bit.

I have no trouble sleeping, but I enjoy staying up at night because it is so peaceful.
My favourite saying about the night is,
"Sleep? What hath night to do with sleep?"

That's very fun to read, Nimue.
It's very accurate to mention the meditation before sleep. I did this for the very first time in this life, last night. I saw such intensity. I like that there is a healing link here, right now in this parallel, because I did not read this thread until today. It makes the experience of Nimue posting here last night, linked to my "chance" experience of posting here right now. It's communal.

For all of my life this has happened to me from time to time but I have never given it much importance. If I can't fall asleep I just lie there relaxed and my thought pattern continues until I eventually fall asleep. I just let it be what it is and don't get worked up about it at all.
Just become relaxed, take a few deep breaths and let all of the tensions of the day wash away. It seems most people hold on to them. They desire so much to fall asleep to forget about all their troubles. There are only two reasons why we sleep. To give rest to the body from it's daily labour and to give rest to the mind from it's mental labour. Get comfortable and relax and DON'T hold no to anything. Let your thoughts run their course and when you wake you should feel rejuvenated. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the great advice everyone! And sorry I took so long to reply back, I've been super busy lately and my computer and I don't spend much quality time together anymore I really like that quote nimue, and I agree, nighttime is very peaceful to just sit up and think.

I've had trouble sleeping for as long as I can remember. I've tried many things to sleep easier and found that some things do actually help me a lot.
I try not to read/watch anything exciting or scary before going to sleep. Sometimes I meditate or pray but that's only in real emergencies where I know that I need sleep badly and cannot do without it. I found that listening to calm music also helps to relax me more and drinking hot milk or something else before going to bed is also quite good.
I think the best you can do is curl up in your bed and wait for sleep to come. Let your thoughts roam over the world you come across in your dreams, for instance, and you'll soon find that you're already travelling towards it.

Do what I do at workdays. Just go to bed at half 2 everyday and before you go to bed you can watch the stars, lovely.
